Animal Rescue Corps (ARC) assisted the Huntingdon Police Department in the rescue of 22 dogs found living in neglectful conditions in Huntingdon, TN.
After receiving calls from neighbors claiming that the homeowners had been absent for over a week, ARC and police decided to remove the dogs from the abandoned home.
Inside the house they found 13 Chihuahuas, two Pit Bulls, one Norwich Terrier, and multiple litters of puppies. The dogs were either loose inside of the feces-filled home or chained in the yard. All dogs were without adequate food and water.
Because of his past, the rescue crew wondered how he would react when he was finally set free. Would he be scared? Shy? Would he try to bite?
This amazing and heartwarming photo was taken the moment help arrived:
The photo, which has been making its way around the internet this week, proves that every dog, regardless of breed, deserves a second chance.
Thankfully, that incredibly forgiving Pit Bull will receive just that.
ARC investigated the property room by room, and what they found was truly appalling. Below are the heartbreaking photos from their rescue mission:
Unfortunately, it was too late for one of the puppies.
All of the surviving dogs were immediately placed in the care of ARC. According to an update on ARC’s Facebook page, each dog from this rescue will receive a thorough veterinary exam, appropriate vaccinations, and necessary medical treatment.
ARC will care for the dogs until they can be moved to local shelters and placed into permanent, loving homes.
